What is the URC?

The United Reformed Church (URC) originated from a union of the Presbyterian Church and the Congregational Church in 1972. It subsequently united with the Re-formed Association of Churches of Christ and the Congregational Union of Scotland and has 66,000 members in 1,545 congregations in the UK, according to the 2011 year book.

The United Reformed Church combines its commitment to the Reformed tradition with a passionate belief that all God's people should be one.

It seeks to work with Christians of all traditions, and rejoices in being part of many local partnerships with the Methodist Church and others. It is also committed to theological and cultural diversity.
