Communion
At St Andrew’s, communion is normally celebrated on the first Sunday
of each month during the morning service. It is also an important part
of specific festivals such as Maundy Thursday and Easter Day.
Everyone is welcome to share the elements of bread and non-alcoholic
wine. Several times a year, the children and young people are included
in this part of the service and may partake of communion with the
permission of their parents or carers.
In the tradition of the URC, the congregation remains seated in the
church while the bread and then the wine in individual small glasses,
are served by the elders. Everyone waits to take these elements
together. Anyone not wishing to take communion is still welcome to stay
in church during this part of the service.
