Netherton Friendship Club

Netherton Friendship Club outingThe NFC meets each Tuesday from 10.30am-2.30pm except after Bank Holiday Mondays. Membership is open to those over 60 years of age and helpers of any age are welcome.

The group is based at St Andrew's but is not exclusively a Church group. It was originally set up with the help of Age Concern in 2002 and has a regular membership of 60.

The NFC is a lively group which enjoys a varied weekly programme. Activities range from board games or quizzes to armchair aerobics but there is always time to sit and chat. There is usually a speaker on topics such as local history, financial matters or even holiday snaps. A highlight of the day is a cooked lunch prepared by volunteers in the Church kitchen.

The group also has fund raising Spring and Christmas Sales and two or three trips a year to local places of interest.

Members pay a small subscription each week which covers the cost of the day's activities and includes tea, coffee and biscuits, and there is a charge for lunch.

Coronavirus

Acting on the guidance provided by Her Majesty’s Government and on the advice given by the General Secretary of the United Reformed Church concerning measures that should be taken to limit the spread of the Corona Virus within the population at large, the Elders of St. Andrew’s have reluctantly decided that it is appropriate to suspend all acts of worship and public gatherings in our church and hall until further notice.

We regret that this course of action has been required and we will endeavour to serve the needs of our congregation and the wider community in other ways until such time as the situation changes.
